On the passing of Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver, who made history as the first Black woman to serve as Speaker of the General Assembly, New Jersey Policy Perspective (NJPP) releases the following statement.

Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver committed her life to public service and fighting for a fairer society, leaving a lasting legacy that will inspire future generations. She was a trailblazer in every sense of the word, boldly carving her own path in state and local politics. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the Oliver family.”
